We are transferring the entire mywowbb.com site today. There are HUNDREDS of boards in this move.

If you have a board ending in .mywowbb.com OR a redirected subdomain to a mywowbb.com board you might notice a little slowness today.

If your board disappears altogether you might have a subdomain redirected using the old IP address as I remember some of you insisted on doing it this way.

Please consider using the .mywowbb domain name instead for redirecting as this is the proper method giving the host flexibility to make network changes without interrupting clients services.

If you must use IP for any reason, I will post it here when the move is 100% complete. I would still suggest using the .mywowbb address as your redirect target.

Please post any questions concerning this issue in this thread.

Thank you-
Jim

All I know is that we pay our money each year...I have no clue about domains or subdomains and don't have a clue what to do to get our site back up and running.

Our site is called Living Lean....can you help me access it? Thanks.

Hi,

The entire array of boards is now on the new server and we are in the middle of configuring it to work properly.

Sorry for the inconvenience but the end result will be better service for everyone.

Jim

Thanks for the reply. When everything is complete, will we still be able to use our same link? I inherited the board as manager, I have no idea if we are a lease or the other thing...I just know we pay around $95 a year to keep it going.
Will the board look different?

The board will be exactly the same and have the exact same address. The billing will eventually be canceled and you will receive an invoice from Data 1 Systems upon the next due date.

If you are a lease you can get a free upgrade to UltraBB. If you own a license you can get a discount and upgrade for $49 USD.

Unless you upgrade the software to UltraBB, your board will look the same.

I am going through invoices and emailing everyone with the pertinent information they need. Please let me know if the email associated with your board is still valid. If you have invoice numbers/receipts regarding your payments, that would speed the process up.

I'm pretty sure we are a lease. How do we get this free upgrade to UltraBB?
Our board is back, but it looks like it's yesterday's postings and we can't post yet.

PM me with the actual board address and I'll take a look. Some posts might be lost but about 4 hours max. It would have been impossible to shut all those boards off while transferring, really sorry.

Let me ask you this, this question has come up at our board. As the host, Jim and Di...are you able to access and read our board posts? I have some very uncomfortable members at the moment who are deleting journals.

Would you let me know this, right away, please?

And....where do I get some detailed instruction on adding emoticons? I hope it's not the same old instructions as before, because I can't get that to work.

Thanks.

This is an interesting question. Not that I'm bothered either way but interested.

Nobody can access your board unless they are a member, Jim, Di, Myself and Reg cannot get to your board without you telling us the URL.

Welcome to Ultra, MrsBob.

To answer your question, as the hosts, we have access to everyone's databases but since we  have 12 servers and over 1000 customers, not only dont we want to, we really dont have the time to be scouring our servers to read posts on people's boards. Our thought is this, it's your site, and as long as you don't have pornographic material out in the open, then we respect the owner's rights and privacy to the running of their boards.

Well, isn't the URL just the link up at the top of the page?

The URL should be in the title of your board, but if it's not given out, we'd have a hard time finding it - and if we do have the URL, as has been mentioned earlier, we can't see what's posted there without having a login provided the board is set to only show subforums when logged in.

AND let me add, in the rare event a customer has asked me to retrieve a single post from their backup (please keep this to a minimum LOL) you have to extract the database and load it to a test board. This takes time and effort.

So can Bob Parsons read Jillian's messages? Sure he can with an extended effort. That is honesty.

I have to agree with my wife 100% though... why would you want to?

Emoticon uploading is much easier in Ultra. About hosting, the management of any hosting company can access posts etc. only if you give them the passwords, but I'm sure that they wouldn't have the time to do it even if they wanted to.

I used wowBB hosting for about four years before I came over here in 2008 and I can attest to Jim and Di's integrity and honesty, if that is of any help to you. Any time I needed something changed, I had to give Jim my password as he couldn't access the account otherwise.
